The definition of curriculum is curriculum was a racing
chariot, currere was to run. In curriculum theory and practice there have 4
ways of approaching or looking at curriculum theory and practice. First is
curriculum as a body of knowledge to be transmitted that related with syllabus
which is means a short and clear statement or list of topics for discourse. For
example, assignment and writing. Second is curriculum as a body of knowledge to
be transmitted. It was about real purpose of education to bring about
significant changes in the students pattern of behaviour. When the teacher
finish teach they must show the result about what they teach the children.
Before start the teaching and learning (activities) the teachers must set up the
objectives that they want to achieve. Next is curriculum as product. It has the
advantages and disadvantages. For advantage, the approach of curriculum theory,
practice is systematic and has considerable “organizing power” is to providing
a clear notion of outcome meanwhile for disadvantages program is outside the
learning experiences of learners. This takes much away from the learner. It
means the students only follow what the teacher ask and what they being ask to
do. So, they will be no development happen to the students because they only do
what been ask without use their brain to solve the work that been give. Third
is about curriculum as process. It was another way of looking at curriculum
theory. It also about the interaction between teacher, students and knowledge.
Lastly is about curriculum as praxis. It means it was a process of learning the
experiments
